PM hands over cheque to Nausori Airport landowners

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has handed over a cheque of $273 thousand dollars to the Mataqali of Vunilolo from the village of Nuku, Tailevu in his office yesterday.

This after the Mataqali leased their land under the Land Bank to allow for Fiji Airports Limited to utilize the land for the extension of the Nausori International Airport.

Bainimarama expressed his appreciation to the clan for their support and through this partnership they are assisting Government in modernising Fiji.

Sharing similar sentiments, Attorney-General and Civil Aviation Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is a historic occasion for both parties as allowing the leasing of the land, will contribute towards a rise in economic activity within the Nausori area.

The terminal at the airport will also be extended similarly to that of the newly upgarded Nadi International Airport.
