Government has invested $200, 000 in the procurement of two ambulances for the National Fire Authority.
One of the ambulances was handed over yesterday by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama to the Savusavu Fire Station.
Bainimarama says the ambulance was requested to him by the public during the opening of the Savusavu Fire Station in July.
NFA Chief Executive Officer Manasa Lesuma says the Savusavu community is fortunate to have the new Ambulance.
He says the handover of the new Ambulance is a timely one and has been long overdue as only last month they had stationed a temporary ambulance at the fire station noting the need in Savusavu.
He says with improved roads, the risk of accidents will increase and having such an ambulance would be a great help to their rescue efforts.
The new Ambulance comes fully equipped with modernized paramedic equipment.
