PM encourages Chinese investors to invest in Fiji

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has told a group of existing Chinese investors and potential investors that opportunities of doing business in Fiji are gaining momentum.

Bainimarama made the comment at a reception with Chinese investors in Beijing on Tuesday night.

He is leading a delegation on a state visit to China to meet with senior government officials and senior officials from China’s private sector.

Bainimarama says the investment climate has never been better and the country is having the longest running period of economic growth in Fiji’s history.

He adds Fiji’s keen to attract Chinese investment in the IT industry, manufacturing such as food processing, shipbuilding and vehicle manufacturing, construction, renewable energy and tourism.

However, Bainimarama stressed that whatever investment investors are considering, it must be environmentally friendly because they regard the protection of environment as top priority.

Bainimarama adds the government wants investors who are honest and balance their commercial interests with the interests of every Fijian.
