July 6, 2012 8:33 pm

The first lot of cadets from St Thomas High School in Lautoka had their pass-out parade yesterday.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama inspected the parade and encouraged cadet training.

The cadet program helps instil a sense of patriotism in our students and schools. It is a key building block in the achievement of a common national identity in Fiji because it promotes unity and social cohesion in our communities.

Bainimarama also used the opportunity to push for students to be part of the voter registration process.

I urge all of you who are of voting age who have not already – to go and register. You are the future of Fiji. You must stand up and make your voices heard.

Head boy John Raoma led the parade.
