Thirteen families of Naiutuutu settlement in Namena, Tailevu will now have access to electricity.
This comes after Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama commissioned their new rural electrification project today.
Bainimarama says the project will give families of Naiutuutu settlement a chance to achieve greater things and become part of a progressive Fiji.
Since the settlement was established sixty years people have relied on lanterns and those who could afford it – had generators.
Bainimarama says joining the electricity grid will help families meet daily expectations and improve the quality of life.
The Commissioning of this rural electrification project is the continuation of government efforts to bring new and modern infrastructure to every corner of Fiji.
