The Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama heaped praise on the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation for its patriotic strides.
Speaking at FBC’s 65th birthday celebrations on Friday night, Bainimarama said that through the national broadcaster, there was more than a sense of patriotic pride across the airwaves.
“When viewers tune into FBC, they know they can count on content that gives them a new lens to a timely topic that builds national bridges across communities, provinces and different backgrounds and that inspires a profound sense of patriotism.”
In particular, the Prime Minister highlighted standout performances from certain FBC departments that have had an indelible national impact.
“News is far and away our people’s preferred news channel and Bula FM ranks as Fiji’s most popular radio station. But what is most remarkable is that you’ve ceased market dominance not by sensibly leaning or playing to the base of views and listeners but by leading our national conversation in a positive and inclusive marriage.”
Bainimarama adding that in the 65 years of existence, the public broadcaster has only grown from strength to strength.
