Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has called for industrialized nations not to be complacent and commit to carbon emissions at the COP21 Summit in France next week.
Bainimarama was addressing the African Caribbean and Pacific Council of Ministers in Belgium yesterday.
He’s reaffirmed Fiji’s offer of permanent refuge to the people of Kiribati and Tuvaluin a worst-case scenario.
Bainimarama told the ACP Council that Fiji’s message in Paris next week will be to tell industrialized nations to do what they must do to save the planet and
cut carbon emissions by much more than they plan to.
The Prime Minister says those nations which are baulking at drastic action need to be prodded out of their complacency.
