Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has used the International Sugar Organization Council Seminar platform to gather support for the Pacific in it’s campaign to call for drastic cuts in carbon emissions at the COP 21 Climate Change Summit in Paris at the end of this month.
During his national address, Bainimarama stated that the two years of drought and severe storms occurring outside of the normal cyclone season is already putting all our agriculture under stress – putting Fiji in clear danger.
He says the climate change crisis is immediate and has a direct effect on our agriculture.
Bainimarama told the Council, he will be leading the charge for drastic cuts in carbon emission at the COP21 conference and asked for the ISO’s whole-hearted support.
The Prime Minister is leading a 40 member Fiji delegation to COP21 which starts on November 30th.
