More developments will take place along the Tavua/Korovou stretch of Viti Levu as the government pumps more money into rural growth.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has assured Fijians in this region that they haven’t been forgotten and he is determined to do a lot more.
“As well as new roads and bridges, we’re also extending access to electricity across the top of the north. The Fiji Electricity Authority through Government funding is extending the power grid between Tavua and Korovou. And soon, many more families living along this corridor – including the province of Ra – will have electricity in their homes for the very first time.”
Bainimarama believes Fiji cannot become a modern nation state unless all territories and settlements move together – that means focusing attention on areas which are in dire need.
While the government budget will continue to allocate money for rural development, Bainimarama has indicated that there will also be attempts to source funds from donor agencies and development partners to take benefits to all parts of Fiji.
