Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has revealed plans on how the country will celebrate the 50th anniversary of our independence.

Speaking to the Fijian community in the UK, Bainimarama says the government is currently doing the hard work to ensure the occasion is a celebration for the ages.

Bainimarama says the celebration won’t just be a one day occasion.

“We have a series of events planned that will start in the early part of 2020 and then continue throughout the calendar –– events celebrating our history, our future, and our sense of united nationhood –– finally culminating in October on the biggest Fiji Day yet.”

The Prime Minister is calling on all UK Fijians to have their passports ready so they can be part of the celebration next year.

The government looks forward to welcoming the first half-century as an independent nation and look forward to the successes the next fifty years hold.
