Fiji Cancer Society is now fully functional with a defined role, strategic plan, strong partnerships and alliances with new policies and budgets in place.

This comes after the Society undertook a lot of scrutiny and backlash from the public in 2015 regarding various misgivings.

In a turn of events, President Phillip Low has stepped down from his position and a new president and board was elected today during their annual general meeting.

Despite the issues, Low is happy with the achievements of the Society.

“One of the best thing is that everybody knew what the society was back in 2015 when we got voted in and what it is today. So I think it was one of the best thing.”

Low says the society needs more people to assist as funding is a major challenge they are currently faced with.

The board is made up of a combination of existing members as well new members – which will ensure continuity, combined with ideas and vision for the Society.
