Permits needed for any public events: SCC

The Suva City Council has warned that any public event will need necessary permits from the Fiji Police Force.

Many public functions are held around Christmas and New Year attracting large crowds, usually accompanied by loud music.

However, SCC Chair Isikeli Tikoduadua has warned any such event without police approval will be shut down.

Tikoduadua says in past years, there have been complaints from ratepayers.

“Public functions within residential zones have been a concern raised by the public which includes OHS issues, health and public safety challenges. Organizers must obtain permits.”

The Fijian Broadcasting Corporation has already confirmed its “Christmas to Remember” event this Saturday has been cancelled due to the measles outbreak.
