Carrier drivers from Nadi and Lautoka have raised concerns regarding the illegal operations which they have to do as they haven’t been given permits to operate legally.

This was highlighted in the thirteenth Annual General Meeting of the Fiji Van and Carrier Operators Association which was officiated by Transport Minister Praveen Kumar.

While responding to the issues raised Kumar says they are working on addressing these issues as government has uplifted the freeze on the application of PSV permits.

“As an operator owner, I encourage you to work with your government in a commitment to find new and vibrant solutions that may address the many problems that we encounter.”

He adds those operators who are in urgent need of a permit and their relevant documents have been signed will be named in priority list.

Following which, zoning will be done to carry out a barrel process, whereby, around two hundred applicants will be selected for the permits.

Meanwhile the representative from Commissioner Centrals Office, Fiji Police, Land Transport Authority and the Nausori Town Council also attended the AGM.
