There is a high demand for people with science background in the country.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum made this statement while speaking at the launch of mVuli at Swami Vivekananda College in Nadi this week.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the government needs Fijians with science background to manage big projects such as the extensive flood mitigating projects in the wider Nadi area.

“As you know that Nadi has big problem with flooding, we are currently working with the Japanese government to help mitigate the risk of flooding in the Nadi basin area included, all of this can be built but we need Fijians to actually manage it, we need people with the science background, the engineering background to be able to ensure that we have sustainability in those projects”.

mVuli is an app that provides hundreds of highly interactive digital lessons covering secondary school Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry which is also available for offline access.

The Economy Minister says students who are taking science subjects must utilize the app as it is aimed at providing high quality and holistic education for Fijians.
