“Number one is obviously the injuries or the trauma and for that we have the specialist hospitals which will be able to go to these areas at very short time to be able to provide support and bring patients back for care at main hospital so that’s one system on its own.”

Meanwhile, Waterways Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy says a Waterways Environment Clearing team has been set up to assist various communities.

“Each team will have to its disposal a hype truck, chain saws, manpower and 4×4 vehicle to clear any debris. So if anyone calls the WEC team they will quickly go and clear the debris so that the water can flows.”

The Minister says clean, safe water supply and proper sanitation is vital in times of cyclones, thus people need to work together.
