August 12, 2014 12:57 am

A wide range of questions have been raised with the Electoral Commission at a public forum in Suva.

Members of the public present asked questions about polling stations, the conduct of presiding officers and the security of the ballot papers.

The Assistant Supervisor of Election, Michael Clancy says the security of ballot boxes and papers will be paramount.

“The ballot paper will also have some security features which I’m obviously not going to tell people what they are but if people try to make their own ballot papers, we would know.”

Those in attendance also raised questions about the 545 texting platform.

Clancy added that there is still some data being entered into the system due to which some people may be having difficulty getting their polling details.

About fifty people attended the forum last night.

Another one will be held at the Nausori Parish Hall in Nausori tomorrow evening.
