People living in the Western Division may experience power cuts on Sunday as Fiji Electricity Authority will be carrying out repair and maintenance work at the 132kV Wailoa Substation and on the 132kV Wailoa to Nadarivatu transmission line.

Chief Executive Hasmukh Patel says in order to carry out the repair and maintenance, FEA Engineers will need to de-energise the 132,000 volts transmission line from the Wailoa to Nadarivatu.

Patel says that FEA will not be able to transmit electricity from the Wailoa Hydro Electric Power Station to the Western Division.

He says during this time, FEA will be relying on the Nadarivatu Hydro Electric Power Station and Diesel Power Stations at Sigatoka, Qeleloa, Nadi, Vuda, and Rakiraki to supply electricity to Western Division Customers from Namatakula in Sigatoka to Waimecia in Rakaraki.

The repair works will be carried out from 3am to 6pm this Sunday.
