Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has assured those living in rural areas that they will not be left behind as was the case with previous governments.

Speaking during the Western Division Roadshow in Ra, Bainimarama says politicians in the past didn’t spend time in the rural parts of the country.

Bainimarama says it was all about Suva, the big urban areas, and the issues that impacted those with privilege and, or those with the right parents or the right background.

Bainimarama hitting out at past politicians for always forgetting those in the rural areas.

Bainimarama says that this has changed when his Government took over making special effort to not only raise the quality of life of Fijians in rural pockets of Fiji, but to actually listen to those Fijians, hear them out, and directly intervene to solve the problems they have been facing for decades.

The Prime Minister has also reminded Fijians to listen for the truth and to listen for the facts as Political Parties will be campaigning.

Bainimarama says that many politicians during the 2014 elections had doomsday predictions.

Bainimarama says that some said iTaukei land would be stripped away, and that the iTaukei would be robbed of their resources and that of their culture would, somehow, be lost.

However Bainimarama says that four years on, they have all seen quite clearly that none of that has actually happened and when those same politicians come again with the same lies and the same fear mongering he knows the Fijian people will see right through it, just as they did back in 2014.

He says that the rest of the political field has no experience at all, No leadership, no vision, no accomplishments and no achievement.

Bainimarama says all they have are words and big promises, with no real game plan, no real agenda, and no real hope of seeing any of it through.

He adds at the end of the day, after spending time in your communities, they’ll only leave you with their own wishful thinking and less grog than you started with.
