December 12, 2016 11:45 pm

News of the heavy rain alert and the low pressure system has struck fear in many people in the Western Division, especially those who felt the full brunt of Tropical Cycole Winston.

65-year-old Gajraj Singh of Vunikavikaloa in Rakiraki told FBC News he and his family are scared since hearing of the possibility of the low pressure system developing further.

“In my area, it was very badly affected by the cyclone so we are very afraid because we’ve just heard on the radio that a low pressure could probably turn into a depression and it might turn into a cyclone.”

Singh says some people in his area are still living in tents and are scared as the experiences of TC Winston are still fresh in their minds.

They’re hoping that the system does not develop into a cyclone but he says if it does, they will have no choice but to flee to where it is safer.
