People are trying to dishonestly obtain funds under the Home Care Initiative.
Acting Prime Minister, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this is a fact as this also happened after TC Winston.
Sayed-Khaiyum says some people have been charged because of this.
“There was a gentleman a few months back who was charged, the way he was actually able to get multiple numbers of cards under different names where he in fact, then was picked up by the auditing.”
Sayed-Khaiyum says there is a certain level of trust they give to Fijians who are applying for this funds.
He says some people went to the extent of changing their residential address with the elections office to qualify to be in a particular area before applying for assistance.
Sayed-Khaiyum adds it does happen, and they are doing audit trail in these areas.
Meanwhile, the Home Care Initiative for Nadi will take place next week.
