People living in evacuation centres in the Western Division are being advised to return to their homes now that the weather has cleared.

Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau says evacuees need to get involved in cleaning up their homes and try and return to normal lives.

Tagicakibau says schools need to open next week and people will be accommodated only if their houses have been extensively damaged.

‘’We need to be talking to the evacuees that they need to go back to their respective places in the next five days. We will assist them. If their houses are blown off, we will try to provide temporary shelters. We will be asking them to do cleaning up individually’’.

Tagicakibau says over the week, people can return to the evacuation centres to rest.

The Commissioner Western’s Office continues to receive situation reports from the whole division.
