Pediatrics cardiac screening center to open soon

The Sai Prema Foundation will soon be opening a pediatrics cardiac screening center to assist children with heart diseases.

The center will provide free heart screening at the Sri Satya Sai Sanjeevani Medical Center in Nasese.

Sai Prema Foundation Medical Coordinator Dr Krupali Tappoo says through its various medical camps in rural and remote areas they have identified the need to have such a screening center to help children with heart diseases.

“In April this year Sai Prema Foundation will be opening pediatric cardiac screening center our Sanjeevani Medical center so we actually getting an echo machine from New Zealand and doctors will come from CWM hospital to do echos on weekly or twice weekly basis so we are able to pick up children who have these issues.”

She adds these echo’s done privately would cost between $200 and $300 however once the pediatrics cardiac screening center opens, this services will be provided without any cost.

Dr Krupali Tappoo adds echos are a very complex procedure.

She says as part of their medical scholarship they aim to send doctors to further their skills in pediatrics cardiology.
