Around 300 Fijians are earmarked for deployment to the Golan Heights next month as part of the normal rotation.

Director Peace Support Operations – Commander Humphery Tawake says they’re now working on the finalised departure dates.

“They leaving next month, we’ll have the confirmation this week, hopefully from New York on when, their exact dates of deployment, basically, well hopefully we’ll get the rotation done by the end of next month.”

In a recent visit to the Golan Heights Commander Tawake says while the security situation remains a constant challenge, the UN makes every effort to ensure all of their operations run as safe as possible.
