PCN helped 1147 child laborers from 2008-2013

A community based organization in Fiji has helped a number of child laborers from squatter settlements into formal education in Fiji.

The People’s Community Network, through its “Tackling Child Labour through Education” project has helped 1,147 at risk children out of labour, trafficking or exploitation in Fiji between 2008 to 2013.

The network has been running a bridging program to help child laborers from informal settlements to go to school.

PCN community facilitator, Ana Roverove says it cannot force a child to go to school, and many do not want to.

She says most of the children identified as child laborers took this step to assist their families financially.
