Pastor among 10 to appear in Court for cultivating drugs

A thirty-year-old pastor is among the ten people brought to Suva following a one week drug operation in Kadavu.

Operation Cavuraka moved to Kadavu last week where more than ten farms were raided and more than 700 plants ranging up to 2meters were uprooted.

Those arrested are from twenty to fifty-three years of age.

A total of thirteen people were arrested and six have since been charged with unlawful cultivation of illicit drugs, three with found in possession of illicit drugs, one with criminal intimidation and resisting arrest while three men were interviewed and released.

They will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu, is warning the public not to threaten the officers who are conducting the raids.

Tudravu says they had an incident where a suspect allegedly threatened the raid team with a cane knife.
