The minister also revealed some of the threats to our national security.

”Threats to our national security are here at our door steps. These are incidents on our very shores that point to the fact that we must now be on our toes. Madam Speaker, attempts by some foreign nationals to scheme Automated Teller Machines in the West in February 2016 and the drug fight in Southern Lau in July of this year are indicators that should hasten all efforts to strengthen our national security.”

Seruiratu says Fiji is fortunate to be located in a relatively peaceful place where we’ve never engaged in war or conflict compared to other parts of the world.

The importance of investing in national security was also heard – in order to achieve more growth.
