Passports definitely arriving

June 8, 2012 8:07 pm

Fiji’s contract with passport supplier Oberthur Technologies isn’t likely to be affected despite the long delays in receiving the first batch.

Oberthur Technologies has repeatedly failed to deliver on its dead lines something which by commercial standards would be considered a failure to perform.

But the Immigration Department for its part has no choice. It doesn’t have the authority to pull out of the contract.

Major Vuniwaqa has been in a tight spot time and again…having to explain delay after delay.

More than thirteen thousand applications are now pending and another five thousand emergency passport applications have been received.

This time around, the Department is sure the passports ARE coming.

Oberthur Technologies meanwhile has given no explanations for the delays.
