Passive smokers a concern to the Ministry of Health

July 2, 2015 6:44 pm

Fifty five percent of children 13 to 15 years old are reported to have adults smoking in their vicinity in a week.

This was revealed by Minister for Health Jone Usamate after receiving the World No Tobacco Day Award today.

Usamate says the ministry will do whatever it takes in order to protect children and non smokers and Tobacco control requires a community involvement and support.

“Don’t sell and buy single cigarette rolls, dont smoke in a smoke free place and have the courage to remind someone if they are smoking in a smoke free zone to take it elsewhere.”

As the Ministry continues to expand the number of smoke free settings and make the product less affordable, they will continue further support to smokers to cease from the addictive habit.
