Just as the weather office predicted, most of the low lying areas in Nausori is now underwater.

FBC News journalist, Mika Loga is in the area and files this report.

“Just a while ago we came past Sawani and we saw young boys diving into the river as its rising. Further up at Waila, more than 50 per cent of the road is flooded and there are also children playing in the area. This is something parents should look at for safety reasons. Near the Waila Housing to the junction of Navuso, its flooded and residents are trying to move their belongings but there is a danger – two palm trees fell on the power line and and its hanging at the end part of one of the trees and when it touches one of the fences, it sparks proving its live. Residents are worried the palm tree can fall into the water and people may get electrocuted. Residents called the police lastnight but until nowl, authorities have not come to check on the problem. The Rewa river is rising and has even reached Syria Park which is under water.”
