November 14, 2012 12:03 am

Expectations are high for the first ever Youth TechCamp workshop to be held in Fiji.

Participants, who are oblivious to building software applications, will get an opportunity to look at practical ways to strengthen Internet infrastructure.

Niumai Kavoa, a Postgraduate student from University of the South Pacific, says being selected to be part of the workshop is an achievement for her.

“It is a good opportunity for us in Fiji and the other participants from the Pacific island countries. I myself do not know much about internet governance so one of my expectations is to relearn that.”

Organisers PasifikaNEXUS says the workshop is an effort to improve broadband access in the region.

Around 150 participants from the Pacific islands will be attending the workshop with 100 other participants from Fiji.

The Youth TechCamp will take place from Tuesday.
