Survey indicates that Nadi is well equipped: Waqainabete

The Nadi Hospital is expected to benefit from the privatization of the Lautoka and Ba Hospital.

Health and Medical Services Minister, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete says privatizing of the two hospitals, Nadi will eventually see more expert assisting as backups.

There are 200 staff serving in Nadi including 22 doctors, 144 nurses and administration staff.

Dr. Waqainabete says the $3.5 million upgrades which started last year are 90 percent complete and a survey has found that Nadi is one of the best hospitals in terms of service.

“88 percent of respondents waited for less than 1 hour, more than 50 percent, up to 20 percent said that they were seen within one to two hours, a full 90 percent that was surveyed says they were satisfied with the waiting time for the other services at Nadi hospital such as x-ray, lab, emergency, record, and reception.”

In 2018 Nadi Hospital recorded 124,000 outpatients 14,000 admissions, nearly 1,000 baby deliveries and 18,000 people receiving minor surgical treatment.
