“It is anticipated that from May this year to December next year the project will be fully completed. But there’s a lot of interest now on the project from various stakeholders. The good thing about this project is although we will have the project management team but in terms of the architectural design and of course in construction as well it will involve locals.”

The Minister says one of the key components of the camp is the construction of the UN training capacity which will focus on peace operations.

He says the accommodation blocks will be a key part of the project.

The camp will be utilized for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster relief training.

The facility is funded through the Fiji-Australia Defence Cooperation Program.
