National Federation Party Parliamentarians continue to abstain from the current parliament sitting.

They have not been present for this week’s session having walked out on Tuesday.

SODELPA and NFP parliamentarians had initially walked out of parliament on Tuesday morning in protest against the Speaker’s dismissal of a petition.

However, while the SODELPA MPs returned to the House yesterday, NFP Leader Professor Biman Prasad and member Lenora Qereqeretabua have refrained from returning to Parliament.

In a statement this morning, the NFP says they remain disappointed with the Speaker as they wrote to the Speaker yesterday to seek confirmation on two of their motions for this week, but have not received any response.

The statement goes on to say that the NFP Party Parliamentary caucus will hold a press conference later today which will reveal why they walked out of Parliament on Tuesday and have continued to refrain from the sitting for the last 4 days.
