Defense Minister Inia Seruiratu
Defense Minister has conveyed a sincere apology of the Fiji Police Force and the government to the families that were affected in the irregularity of the recent Police Back-Pay Out of 2015.
The apology came in Parliament during a debate on the public petition to review and redress the vast anomaly present in the payout.
Inia Seruiratu assures that the government and the Defense Ministry will ensure the principles of good governance are put in place.
He adds the other predicament for the vast anomalies that were found in the payout is the absence of data to conduct the investigation.
“Let me assure this honorable house that the Ministry and the Fiji Police Force is doing its best to address and as I have sated it is unfortunate that it has happened in the past and it reveals to us the gaps the weaknesses that we have in place but the opportunity is there for us to look at how can we address it.”
Seruiratu says vital discussions need to be undertaken as to what resources need to be allocated and the monitoring evaluation system needed to achieve efficiency in the service are delivered.
