Minimum wage rate currently under review

The minimum wage rate is now being reviewed by the Employment Ministry.

The minimum wage rate is now being reviewed by the Employment Ministry.

This was clearly outlined by Minister responsible Parveen Kumar following questions by Opposition MP Lynda Tabuya.

The National Minimum wage rate currently stands at $2.68 per hour.

“For her information, the work has begun to review the national minimum wage rate early this year. It was widely published in the media especially Fiji Times and I think she missed it.”

Kumar says the review is being conducted by an Economics Professor from the Western Sydney University following parliamentary and government endorsement.
