Manipulation of Sports Competition Treaty to be reviewed

hile approving the motion, Parliament Speaker Ratu Epeli Nailatikau says the Attorney General has provided him written details and analysis as required by the Standing Orders.

The Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence will review the Manipulation of Sports Competition Treaty.

This comes after the motion was moved by the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for the committee to analyze the treaty.

The purpose of this treaty is to prevent, detect, punish and discipline the manipulation of sports competitions, as well as enhance the exchange of information and national and international cooperation between the public authorities concerned.

While approving the motion, Parliament Speaker Ratu Epeli Nailatikau says the Attorney General has provided him written details and analysis as required by the Standing Orders.

Nailatikau says the details will now be provided to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence for consideration.

Nailatikau has also directed the committee to provide a detail report of the review no later than 30 days from today.
