Committee hearings to be broadcast live

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes says the initiative supports the Fijian Parliament’s on-going efforts to promote a culture of transparency.

The Parliament Secretariat today received equipment which will enable the live broadcast of committee sittings and full sitting of the House.

Feakes adds the broadcasting of parliamentary sittings will allow Fijians to be well informed about what parliament is doing and also understand the work done by committees.

“I am pleased that the Fiji Parliament support programme has been able to assist Fijian parliament for the procurement, installation and commissioning of the broadcasting equipment.”

There are six Parliamentary Committees that sit throughout the year to discuss various reports, conduct hearings and report back to the House.
