Members of the Opposition will return to Parliament when the House resumes next week.

Members of the National Federation Party and SODELPA walked out of Parliament last month after three of their petitions were dismissed by the Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.

NFP leader Professor Biman Prasad said while they had resumed parliamentary committee duties, the issue of the petitions remained.

Professor Prasad said the petitions called for a review by the Standing Committee on Natural Resources of a proposed mining project in Sigatoka.

However, the Speaker of Parliament said the petitions did not have handwritten signatures attached and online signatures would not be considered.

Meanwhile, suspended Opposition MP Pio Tikoduadua has now returned to work.

Tikoduadua was suspended in September for six months after refusing to apologise for verbally abusing the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimara in Parliament.
