SODELPA and Opposition MP Niko Nawaikula was again put under the spotlight for misleading parliament.

While questioning the motions for debates, Nawaikula questioned the independence of parliament and claimed that parliament is still seeking advice from the Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

However, Sayed-Khaiyum moved a point of order to then correct Nawaikula in that it’s the Solicitor General who advised parliament and that the Opposition member was misleading the house.

Nawaikula withdrew his comments before adding that a parliamentary council should be set up to deal with matters concerning parliament.
