2020 Parliament sitting dates confirmed

Parliament has approved its annual calendar for 2020 with only one amended sitting date.

The motion tabled by Leader of Government Inia Seruiratu was debated at length and met with a mixed reaction before it was put to a vote.

The first sitting next year will from the 17th to the 21st of February instead of the earlier proposed date of 24th to 28th February.

The House will next convene from the 16th to the 20th of March, followed by a sitting scheduled from 27th April to the 1st of May.

In May, Parliament will sit from the 25th to the 29th with the next session running from 31st August to 4th September.

The prorogation of Parliament has been scheduled for the 26th of October, with the final sitting for 2020 to run from the 7th to the 11th of December.

The budget address and subsequent budget date are likely to fall in either June or July of 2020.
