Over 600 Fijians in Lautoka will have Cyclone safe homes once stage 3 and 4 of Koroipita Model Town is completed.

Minister for Industry, Trade, and Tourism Premila Kumar made this assurance while briefing parliament on the assistance the Ministry is providing to the Koroipita Model Town Trusts.

Kumar says the current budget has $2m allocated to the Ministry of Housing and Community development to assist this project.

“This assistance will enable the trust to complete 25 houses under stage 3 of the program and to start stage 4 which will deliver another 120 houses.”

The allocation will also help the trust acquire the land for stage four, preparation of necessary plans, and to begin construction work.
