Parents are being urged to play their part and supervise their children especially on the use of social media.

Police Deputy Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu, says a number of sexual assault cases involving children has increased over the years due to parental negligence

Tudravu says cases of children being perpetrators has also increased.

“Globalization, technology is coming in so all this are contributing factor to the opening of children’s mind and in that they also have access to things that are more taboo in our culture.”

He says families need to invest in family time to better understand each other and ensure that children are able to open up to issues affecting them.
