Parents to ensure E-cards are topped up prior to school start

Students benefitting from Government’s subsidized transportation scheme using the blue cards are reminded that only fifty percent of fares will be topped up on their cards for the term three of the school year effective from today.

Education Ministry Transport Officer Iva Driu has confirmed the other fifty percent will then be added in week six to be used till the end of the 13 weeks and final term of the school year.

Driu adds the new Tap N Go initiative is a scheme put in place to ensure the system is more efficient.

”Just an advice to parents if they can assist our children to get their cards redeem before the schools starts next Monday .Redeem can be done at any Vodafone Outlet, bus machine except Tebara bus and ministry of education office or even headquarter.”

Meanwhile a total of One Hundred and Twenty One students have access to the transport assistance programby The Education Ministry, whereby eighty five thousand have used E-card while the remaining thirty six thousand are still using vouchers.

Term three of the school year begins on Monday.
