Police are urging parents and guardians to be mindful and more responsible for the wellbeing of their children since the school holidays are fast approaching.
Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri says they are pleading with parents to always be aware of the whereabouts of their children.
The warning comes on the back of the news that the body of a two-year-old boy was found in a river close to Nacokaika Village in Naitasiri yesterday.
The boy’s body was found by a 53-year-old man yesterday morning floating in a nearby river.
Sokomuri says the child’s parents reported him missing at 3.30pm on November 12 at Viria Village, Naitasiri.
The boy’s body is at the Wainibokasi mortuary and a post-mortem will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
Investigations into the case continue.
