A student has been hospitalised at the Totoya hospital in Lau after he was allegedly assaulted by a teacher.

Speaking from Dravuwalu village in Totoya Lau – the student’s father Petaia Vo alleges, the teacher punched his son who is in class 7, on the neck.

Petaia told FBC news the alleged incident happened on Thursday.

Sergent Navitalai Salaibulu from the Moala Police Station has confirmed receiving the complaint, and says they will travel to Totoya on Monday to investigate.

Education Minister Filipe Bole says, the parent did the right thing by going to the Police, the Ministry will also investigate the matter.
