June 30, 2015 5:30 am

Phase one of a five year pilot project on various horticulture and agricultural products has come to an end.

Those involved in the Pacific Agribusiness Research for Development Initiative (PARDI) showed off their success at a Market Day in Lami today.

Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research General Manager David Shearer says from about 16 projects today’s Market day demonstrated the impacts of small holder farms.

’’There was a range of approaches in terms of understanding and analyzing but the most important fact from our point of view from a research organization is that the initiative was focused on market outcomes so what are the dynamics in a market, how the markets are changing, and how we can do and approach their interventions within those markets that will make a real difference to those small holder farming communities that are involved.”

PARDI not only provides technology to farmers, but also finds markets for their produce.
