The PAFCO management at Levuka are not aware of workers who were injured at the work place and have not received compensation.

This comes after workers raised their concerns to FBC News and questions were directed to the PAFCO Board to answer the claims made by workers.

Around 11 workers who are currently employed by the company told FBC News that they have never been compensated with injuries sustained while working.

However, PAFCO Board Director Iqbal Janiff says the company is not aware of the issue.

“I am not aware of the details but if the workers are injured during work and there is a process to follow and we have a stringent policy to follow all processes”

Labor Minister Jone Usamate says they haven’t received any complaints from the workers as yet.

He says compensation cases should be reported to the ministry.

“And if workers have been injured it needs to investigated and needs to go through the proper processes so if there are workers who believe to have compensation cases they will need to get in touch with us and will look into it.”

Usamate says he will look into this issue as workers have every right to get social justice.
