Employment Minister Jone Usamate has advised the management of PAFCO Fishing Company in Levuka to address the outstanding compensation for injured workers.
This comes after workers told FBC News that they haven’t been compensated for injuries sustained while working for the company.
Board Director Iqbal Janiff says he is unaware of uncompensated workers whose sustained injuries while working, however, there he maintains that there are processes in place that need to be followed.
However Usamate says the management should discuss the issue with the workers.
“They need to work together with their company and if they feel that the matter is not addressed properly they can come directly to my Ministry and we will address the issue also.”
About 11 eleven workers have claimed that they have yet to be compensated for injuries they received while working.
