Pacific tuna industry experts meet in Nadi

The Western and Central Pacific’s biggest tuna industry gathering of the year will convene this morning in Nadi.

Themed ‘Achieving Optimal Economic Benefits Through Sustainable Tuna Management and Development’, the Pacific Tuna Conference brings together experts and industry players from all regional fisheries nations.

Fiji’s Fisheries Minister Osea Naiqamu will be opening the Conference this morning which is focused on sustainable tuna fisheries management and development and marketing options.

The conference will also discuss the tuna stock status in Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands as well as the constraints, challenges and opportunities in the industry.

The Conference is being held at Sofitel Resort in Denarau, Nadi and closes tomorrow.
