Pacific Cement Limited is expected to begin full operations by September.

Chief Executive, Sowani Tuidrola, says the cement plant has been in operation for the past seven days however due to the pending replacement of a major component, the mill is operating at a lower capacity of sixty percent and will do so until the end of July.

Tuidrola says the replacement part is expected to come by end of this month and pre-installation will be in progress for the first two weeks of August.

Tuidrola says currently they are only catering for the local demand and have suspended all their exports to the region.

He adds they are also working to secure suppliers of quality and affordable cement from overseas.

Tuidrola adds it’s been a long standing issue trying to find a supplier who can meet the quality standards in Fiji at an affordable price which has also added to operational delays.
